Naag Panchami
The festival of Naag Panchami falls in between July August is celebrated in Maharashtra and Bengal. A special spirit and feeling of holiness dwells in the heart of devotees when they pour milk, ghee, water and sweets to Lord Naag, the Serpent God.
It is believed luck bestows on one when Naag drinks the offerings. Paintings of Serpent God are made with cowdung, milk and black powder.
Snake charmers have their share of charm when they go to individual houses asking for money and clothes. This joyous mood among the people creates feeling of oneness and spreads brotherhood and love in the community.
